We'll Miss You Cammie

Cammie 1996-2010 Today, I had to say good bye to Cammie.  Over the last week or so she had been treated for a Urinary Track Infection.  Yesterday, I noticed Cammie was not passing any urine.  I took her to the vet last night, but we couldn't see any thing blocking her uretha.  The vet recommended if she didn't pass any urine before the morning that she have ultrasound to see what  might be blocking her uretha.  This morning I took her in and she had a mass blocking her uretha.  The vet and I agreed that the best course of action was to let her go.

Joel, Cammie and Keesha in ColoradoJoel and his family have had Cammie since she was a puppy.  She and her sister, Keesha, moved to Colorado with Joel after he graduated from college.  After a year and a half of adventures in Colorado they all moved to Rochester, MN.  When Joel and I were engaged I threatened to get a cat and he said, no, but we can share the dogs.  One week they would live with me in Whitehall, WI and the next week they would be with him in Rochester, MN.  After we got married we moved to La Crosse, WI and I became a Molly and Cammie when Molly was just about the same size as Cammie.dog mamma.  In 2005, we said good bye to Keesha at the age of nine.  After that we were a one dog family until 2008 when we adopted Molly, a giant schnauzer.  I am not sure Cammie was happy with us, but I do believe Molly helped Cammie stay young.  When we first got Molly, she and Cammie were about the same size, but soon Molly grew and continued to torment Cammie in hopes that Cammie would play.  I'm not sure that Cammie knew what expect from Molly and didn't always know what to do when Molly got close or tried to share her bed.

You can find more photos of Cammie and her adventures on flickr.

We will miss you, Cammie!
