3 Weeks

It was so nice to be going to the airport last night to pick Joel up. He hadn't been home in 3 weeks. A person tends to forget what is happening around you until they are seen by a fresh eye. As we drove south on Highway 16, Joel asked, "Why will I be expecting delays?" as we passed a sign warn us of the PM lane closures. I said, "Oh they are working on the bridge over the train tracks just before La Crosse Street." Things I have begun to take for granted because they are now the norm have become the norm in less then 3 weeks.

Three weeks seems like such a short amount of time when part of the whole, but when it is time spent away from a loved one it is 3 too many weeks. We are hoping this will be the last time he has spend that much time away from home. This time it wasn't super terrible I did get to visit him 2 weeks ago over the 4th of July.

So what has happened in the last three weeks...

  • Joel and I celebrated our 8th anniversary

  • Joel worked a lot

  • I worked a little

  • Joel stayed in California

  • I visited California

  • Highway 16 is torn up just north of La Crosse Street

  • I mowed the lawn twice

  • I started sewing again (haven't done it consistently since high school--Mom is thrilled!)

  • No significant news about Joel finishing up in California (maybe the end of August)
