The 80 Adventures

We almost didn't make it to Tahoe today. There was lots of snow coming and travel on The 80 required chains. Joel and I got up early this morning thinking we would hit the road, but were soon deterred by the weather reports, along with The 80's Twitter updates (yes, you read correctly a road had a Twitter account and it is surprisingly helpful) and live video images of the road found on Magnifeye.com. Of course, I had to Tweet my disappointment, which inspired my brother-in-law, Mark, to call and tell Joel and I to get some chains and go. I responded we had no idea how to use chains, he said they came with instructions. After a bit of discussion and the realization that the weather wasn't going to be better tomorrow for the drive, we found a Napa Auto Parts store and bought chains. We hit the road around 9:30 a.m. and made decent time until we had to put the chains on. It took us 20+ minutes where we both got very wet and cold, but we were successful! We made it to Northstar before 2 p.m. and enjoyed short afternoon of skiing. We'll be back on the slopes tomorrow before we have to head home in the evening.

Enjoying hot coco and coffee after being on the slopes for while. ~br
